Build towards your future

Read and meditate: Nehemiah 4

Singleness is a time to actively wait. Wait on God but actively pursue God’s purpose for your life. This season is a once in a lifetime kind of season. The Lord is calling you to build up your life in preparation of the future. Your preparation will look different than other people because God’s calling on your life is unique. Whatever God is calling you to do, He will equip you to accomplish it. As you obey the Lord and honor him your future begins to take shape upon an unshakable foundation. Be intentional about your time with Jesus and the way you live your life. And watch God give you clarity and direction to diligently start rebuilding your life, self esteem, courage and so many other things that perhaps were broken or damaged by passed relationships. This is a time of great joy but stay alert there is a villain lurking around surveying your progress while conjuring up ways to obstruct your effort. Your adversary hates it when you set your mind to seek the Lord and have direction, so expect him to retaliate.

Be aware of his tactics so you’re not caught off guard and left wondering, “what is happening”? “Dear friends, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal that has come on you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you.” (1 Peter 4:12) The enemy will try to bully you into retreating from your position. He will use scare tactics and manipulate things to look impossible. He will use psychological warfare and play evil mind games. He will fight hard to make you backtrack and lose focus. He will try to discourage you from making changes in your life and setting goals. Your adversary will try to make you believe you are incapable, not equipped, not qualified to do the work God is calling you to do in your life. He will challenge what you have begun to build and cast a dark light upon it by saying, “it’s no good”. To persuade you even further, he will use those closest to you to say things to discourage you all in the hopes of derailing and delaying your assignment.

Now more than ever you must continue diligently, forging ahead because your future depends on it. Pray for strength knowing that your Lord is great and awesome. Continue building up that which the Lord has called you to build up! (yourself, health, your home, future marriage, ministry, church, family, friendships, community) Beloved I encourage you to keep going, don’t stop because God is with you and has approved what you are building, it’s up to code! Read the Word of God and put on the armor of God daily. Work enthusiastically while seeking more of Him. Work purposefully while praising Him. Work eagerly while worshiping Him. This is the only way you’ll be able to protect what you are building up and ensure success. But don’t you worry, God will frustrate the enemy. I use the word “try” many times because that’s all the enemy can do… try. God is for you and fights for you. Honor God and He will protect you. Make Him first every day and God will go before you slaying the darkness with His light.

Do not fall asleep, stay alert and do not let your guard down. Remember those who are ardently working beside you and pray for them. Don’t fall into the trap of comparing what you’re building to their work. (life, ministry, relationship, looks, education, accomplishments) Keep focused on what you’ve been called to do and pray for them. Don’t fight or compete with others doing God’s work. Stay your lane and pray. They are focused so you be focused! There is no down time when you are building a foundation for your future. Stay the course and God will bless your efforts. He will favor your work and your path. Doors will begin to open as you pursue the Kingdom and go about your Fathers business. The future WILL happen so be wise and get to it, start building upon the rock.

  1. Thanks so much for writing this. Been really going through deep hopelessness the last few months and this was painful to read but helpful and holding onto encouragement. Great reminder to be aware that it is a battle/enemy.

    1. I’m so glad this gave you a glimmer of hope and encouraged you. I pray God anoints your head with the oil of joy instead of mourning and the garment of praise instead of a disheartened spirit. ❤️
